Jordi Pelegrí writer and owner of the Blog http://peleblogs.blogspot.com/ known by PELE by all Aquarium hobbyists, wrote an article on his blog referring to ELOS, to be more precise, about ELOS Prima Line Fertilizers.
In my blog (http://peleblogs.blogspot.com/), normally I discuss all the products that I have tested and give my opinions about them based on my own experiences. Usually I try to not exaggerate too much on its benefits and try to be neutral because each aquarium is different, and as we all know, there are no miracle products.
Today I will make an exception because I want to talk about a product that currently has me fascinated and maybe I can’t be as neutral as before. In other entries, I talked about two types of fertilizers offered by ELOS, today I will focus on the "prima line".
About 6 months ago I started the Roc & Roc scape, and first impressions were very good. The first thing I liked was the way they work, a cap on the water change and another half week. In just a few seconds we had covered the weekly fertilizing. By its comfortability, I didn't think it be so effectively, but the aquarium has grown with an impressive salubrity with a minimum maintenance.
About 3 months ago I did an workshop about planted aquariums in AQA Espai and set up an aquarium exclusively with ELOS products.
Video of Workshop:
We decided that the fertilizer would be "Prima Line". I wanted to see how these products would be effective in the aquarium shop, where usually receive less care than a normal aquarium at our home. It was surprising to see AQA Espai employees following the instructions of the product (even using less quantity than described on instructions) and without water changes more than 15-20% weekly; Plants grew surprisingly and healthy.
From that moment, this product totally unknown from the most of Spanish hobbyist began to catch people's attention and getting a such great visibility, that they are now using it. Till now, I'm getting a great feedback from all of them. So, I highly recommend these fertilizers!
For me it is the best commercial fertilizer on the market, without any doubt.
Answering to some hobbyist who did ask me about it, I'll give an example of the costs using these fertilizers in an aquarium with 60 liters:
It is suggested an water change of 10-15 liters per week (it isn't an suggestion of the brand, but a common rule in aquarium hobby to reduce the excess of organic matter and nutrients, and refresh the water on the aquarium) to an aquarium full of plants:
Note: If we have plants with slow grow, it means less consumption:
Planta 1 (500ml = 17.91€)
Iron based fertilizer with small amount of Micro and Macro elements
Recommendation: 5ml every 25l (1 time per week).
I use 7ml fertilizer weekly. 7ml x 52 weeks = 364ml per year (costs 13€).
Planta 2 (500ml = 20.49€)
Macros and Potassium
Recommendation: 5ml per each 10l water change (1 time per week).
I follow exactly the recommendations. 5ml X 52 weeks = 260ml per year (costs 10.6€).
Calculated price of 23.6€ per year for a 60 liters aquarium.
A reasonable price in my opinion!
Conclusion: the plants grow well and healthy, we can save time and dedication for a price of a coffee per month in exchange of a product of excellent quality.
